NAVER D2SF makes third investment in physical AI data startup NdotLight; round totals $11.1M
NAVER's corporate venture arm has made a follow-on investment in NdotLight, a physical AI data infrastructure company, as part of a KRW 15 billion round led by Korea Development Bank. The deal underscores growing venture interest in solving data bottlenecks for physical AI.
NAVER D2SF, the corporate venture capital arm of South Korean internet giant NAVER, has made a third follow-on investment in NdotLight, a data infrastructure company focused on physical artificial intelligence.
The KRW 15 billion (approx. $11.1 million) funding round was led by Korea Development Bank, according to a statement from NAVER D2SF. The size of NAVER D2SF's specific commitment was not disclosed.
The investment marks the venture arm's third in NdotLight, following a Pre-Series A round in 2021 and a Series A round in 2022. NAVER D2SF said it decided to invest again based on the company's potential to address data constraints that remain a key bottleneck in physical AI development.
**Addressing the data gap**
NdotLight has developed TRINIX, a "simulation-ready" 3D data generation solution that can be directly applied to training simulations for physical AI. The company's automated pipeline generates 3D data with detailed physical properties—including mass, friction, joint structures, and collision boundary information—that are often missing or costly to produce in traditional approaches.
"Significant gaps in data quality, slow collection speed, and high costs have remained major bottlenecks when applying such data to simulation environments where real-world AI training takes place," the company said.
TRINIX integrates with NVIDIA Omniverse, the chipmaker's simulation platform, enabling NdotLight to supply large-scale, high-quality 3D simulation datasets.
**Customer base and industry validation**
NdotLight currently provides AI training data to humanoid robotics and robotics foundation model companies, including Holiday Robotics, AeiRobot, ROBROS, and RLWRLD. The company is also participating as a data supplier in physical AI projects led by Hyundai Motor Company and LG Electronics.
NAVER D2SF described these engagements as validating NdotLight's business potential as data infrastructure that can be applied in real-world industrial settings.
**Team and recognition**
CEO Jinyoung Park previously worked on 3D launcher development at Samsung Electronics, while CTO Suntae Kim led AI and 3D engine development at NAVER and Samsung Electronics. NdotLight has been named by CB Insights, a global venture research firm, as one of the world's notable 3D engine companies.
With the latest funding, the company is actively hiring across all functions.
**Long-term partnership**
NAVER D2SF first invested in NdotLight in 2021 and has worked closely with the company to build a 3D content creation environment, followed by the subsequent investment in 2022. NdotLight was also a resident startup at NAVER 1784, the company's robotics and AI-focused R&D hub.

Through this additional investment, NAVER D2SF said it plans to explore new collaboration opportunities with NdotLight in physical AI.
**Venture interest in physical AI data**
The deal underscores a broader push by corporate VCs to back startups solving the data infrastructure challenge that is critical to the development of physical AI—systems that perceive and act in the real world, such as humanoid robots and autonomous machines. NAVER D2SF is the in-house venture arm of NAVER, which operates Korea's leading search engine and spans commerce, content, fintech, and cloud services.
