Anthropic Files for IPO, Eyes November Trading Debut at Up to $2 Trillion Valuation
Anthropic has publicly filed its S-1 with the SEC, setting the stage for a stock market debut as early as the week of November 16 under the ticker ANT. The AI company’s prospectus reveals rapid revenue growth alongside massive infrastructure spending commitments, with investors debating whether the valuation—estimated between $1.5 trillion and $2 trillion—can withstand scrutiny.
Anthropic, the developer of the Claude AI model, has taken the first formal step toward a public listing, filing its S-1 registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The company plans to list on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker ANT, according to its filing and reports from Yahoo Finance cited by Breitbart News.
The earliest possible trading date is Monday, November 16, based on SEC rules and a calculation by Yahoo Finance reported by Breitbart. Under the standard timeline, the company could set its offering price as early as Friday, November 13, and begin trading the following Monday. A comparable timeline to SpaceX’s June debut—23 days from public filing to first trade—would push the debut to Wednesday, November 18.
Anthropic has not disclosed the number of shares to be sold or the price range.
**Financials Reveal Stunning Growth and Heavy Spending**
The S-1 filing provides the first audited look at a standalone frontier AI lab. Revenue for the first nine months of the fiscal year ended September 30 grew 1,206 percent to $33.2 billion, according to the Breitbart report citing the filing. Operating losses narrowed to $1.3 billion in that period from $5.2 billion a year earlier.
Multiple sources corroborate strong second-quarter performance. Anthropic recorded an operating profit of $974 million in the second quarter of 2026, with an 85% gross margin, according to both TwelfthMagpie and the Dev.to newsletter ThursdAI. Third-quarter revenue hit $17 billion, a 1,127% year-on-year increase, but the company swung to an operating loss of $567 million, primarily due to securing $5 billion worth of short-term compute, TwelfthMagpie reported.
The company’s spending commitments are enormous. Anthropic disclosed nearly $900 billion in AI infrastructure and computing commitments with partners including Broadcom, Alphabet, Amazon, and SpaceX, per both Breitbart and TwelfthMagpie. Of that total, approximately $70 billion is due by September 2027, and almost $450 billion before the end of 2030, TwelfthMagpie noted. The company acknowledged in its amended filing that building its own infrastructure is changing its cash flow profile and may increase net cash used in these activities regardless of financial performance.
**Valuation and Investor Sentiment**
Investors have signaled a fair valuation for Anthropic of between $1.5 trillion and $2 trillion, according to both Breitbart and TwelfthMagpie. The high end would value the company at more than 4,300 times its Series A valuation.
The IPO has drawn mixed reactions from prominent investors. Jim Cramer said bears may try to derail the offering, making it a key test for AI valuations amid debates over losses, pricing, and bubble risks, according to a Benzinga report. Separately, investor Michael Burry questioned whether Anthropic’s cloud partners are helping polish expenses and margins ahead of the IPO, Benzinga reported.
**Risk Factors Include Existential Threats and Customer Concentration**
Anthropic’s S-1 includes risk factors that are unusual for a public filing. The company warned that sufficiently advanced AI systems “could… pose catastrophic or existential risks to humanity,” according to both Breitbart and Dev.to. Other risks cited include a narrow customer base and the possibility that cheaper, good-enough AI models may win over enterprise workloads, leading to commoditization, TwelfthMagpie reported.
The company’s customer base has expanded rapidly. In 2023, about 20 customers paid Anthropic more than $100,000 annually; by December 2025 that number had grown to 1,500, and it now stands at nearly 12,000, according to the Dev.to report. The S-1 also shows more than 1,900 customers with $1 million or more in trailing-12-month revenue, and roughly 250 customers with $10 million or more, TwelfthMagpie reported.
**Major Investors Stand to Gain**
A long list of backers is positioned to benefit from the IPO. Amazon and Alphabet are major investors, along with venture capital firms Spark Capital, Menlo Ventures, Coatue Management, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and funds managed by Fidelity and Blackstone, according to Breitbart.
Breitbart reported that former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, an early investor who first backed Anthropic in 2021 when the company was valued at $461 million, could see his stake valued at approximately $10 billion based on a $2 trillion valuation. Schmidt and Anthropic declined to comment.
In April, a tender offer allowed shareholders to sell stock, with CEO Dario Amodei, President Daniela Amodei, and other executives selling approximately $4.66 billion worth of shares, per Breitbart.
The IPO is expected to create significant wealth for investors tied to Silicon Valley’s Effective Altruism movement and left-leaning political causes, Breitbart reported, though the company itself has not commented on the political implications.
